Elections to notify voters about signature updates
Mesa County Elections will soon contact all active registered and pre-registered voters ages 17 to 25 who have fewer than one reference signature on file in the statewide voter registration database. This proactive outreach supports ballot security and helps ensure seamless signature verification in upcoming elections.
The elections office is doing this to comply with Colorado Election Rule 7.7.14, which requires counties to contact active registered and pre-registered voters ages 17 to 25 who have only one, or no reference signature on file.
Voters subject to this rule will receive official notices by mail or email containing detailed instructions on how to submit an updated signature sample. The outreach will be sent to about 4,000 voters, starting next week.
Ways Voters Can Update Their Signature Record:
- Online: Check registration status and access update options via GoVoteColorado.gov or through Mesa County Elections.
- In Person: Visit the Elections Office at 200 S. Spruce St., Grand Junction, CO 81501.
- By Mail: Fill out and return the form enclosed with the official notice.
- By Fax: Send completed forms to 970-255-5039.
"We're taking proactive steps to ensure every voter has a smooth experience," said Bobbie Gross, Mesa County Clerk and Recorder. "Having multiple signature samples on file helps protect each voter's ballot and supports accurate, secure elections."
Even voters who already have multiple signatures on file are encouraged to submit an updated sample if their signature has changed over time.
