Serve Your Community as an Elections Worker
Serving as an election worker provides a direct way to support secure and accessible elections in Broomfield while getting paid. The City and County of Broomfield is seeking community members to fill several key roles for the upcoming Nov. 3 General Election.
Election workers, also called election judges, perform essential duties that ensure smooth operations at local polling centers and processing facilities. Positions are available across multiple locations, including the Flatirons Voter Service and Polling Center, the Paul Derda Recreation Center, the Broomfield Municipal Shops and the George DiCiero City and County Building.
Several distinct roles are available based on interest and skill set:
- Computer Judges: Assist voters with in-person check-in, update voter records and process registration forms.
- ICX Operators: Guide voters through using the ICX voting equipment and direct them to drop boxes.
- Mail Ballot Judges: Help voters who want to vote using an in-person paper ballot to select the correct ballot style and deposit the completed ballot.
- Greeters: Welcome community members, direct traffic flow and maintain an organized environment at voting locations.
- Ballot Openers: Process mail ballot packets following established procedures to ensure ballots are handled accurately and securely, and assist with election administration tasks.
Work schedules vary by position, with shifts ranging from part-time hours during early voting to a full 14-hour day on Election Day. Qualifications require applicants to be registered voters in Colorado, complete the Oath of Election Judges, pass a criminal background check and complete paid mandatory training. Mandatory training sessions take place Oct. 14 for ballot openers and Oct. 15 for polling center roles.
